"TuTu-Cute" Memory Boards

I LOVE GREENBEAN CRAFTEROLE!!!
(No, that's not a typo)

"Greenbean's Crafterole" is one of my newest faves in Blogland.  This chick is seriously like the most creative and innovate crafter ever!  She can come up with the neatest projects using things you'd have never thought of!  Not too long ago, I hopped over to visit and found her SUPER-CUTE "tutu-cute chalkboards" (HERE) along with a tutorial!  I just couldn't resist...

I did modify this project just a little...the Mess Maker has been needing a memory board for a LONG time and I decided that instead of painting canvases to make chalkboards, I would use cork/MDF combo bulletin boards and cover them with fabric and ribbon to make memory boards.  Here is the result:
I made three of them because they are somewhat small (11x14).  The dresses are hanging on some flower pegs I found at Hobby Lobby and painted in coordinating colors.  She's not into ballet yet but she IS into princesses and she thinks they are princess dresses.  Works for me!

Thanks Greenbean...you've inspired me yet again!  :)

It's been a while since I've entered any "challenges" or linky parties, but I've decided to link this one to "Me & My Bucket's" What Are You Working With Wednesday...HERE.

Love, love love them! Can you post details on the corkboard? Where did you get it, how did you attach the fabric in back? How did you attach the ribbon? So stinkin' cute, I want to try these, looks like I will be heading to Joanns soon! :-)
You're right about greenbean's site, I go there often for inspiration.

Thanks for the wonderful comments and emails! Just wanted to provide a little information that has been requested by several of you:

The cork/MDF combo boards are from Hobby Lobby. They're with the rest of the bulletin boards and dry erase boards. They are 11x14 and have rounded edges. I liked these specific boards because I knew the staples from the staple gun would go into the MDF and stay put.

I used the soft chenille-type fabric that has the dot-texture on it...in the baby blanket fabric section at Hobby Lobby.

To cover the boards, I cut a piece of batting and then a piece of fabric, just a little larger than the size of the board so I would have enough to wrap around the edges. Using a staple gun, I attached the fabric, pulling it snugly around the edges/corners of each board.

Then I wrapped my narrow ribbon around in a criss-cross pattern and stapled it in place on the back of the board as well.

I also got my wide polka dot ribbon in the fabric section at HL. I bought one roll of each color (they were half off at the time) and used almost the entire roll. I wrapped two lengths of ribbon around the bottom of each board and then used the rest for the straps/bows.

The only problem I encountered was the thickness of the board...you'll have to find brads that have long enough prongs to go through the board and still have enough left over to open them and secure them in back. One option might be upholstery tacks, but they don't come with prongs (that I know of). I used a paper piercer to make a hold in the board where the ribbons crossed, then stuck my brad through and opened the prongs on the back. Then I hot glued the gem flowers over the brads.

Greenbean's Crafterole shows how to attach the tulle at the bottom...it's pretty simple. Just loop it and staple in place until you run out of tulle! Check out her blog for photos and instructions!

Thanks again for all the comments and inquiries! :)

Love these! We've been making them and selling them for about six months now -- one of our best sellers at our local craft shows.
