Mojo Monday Sketch #124: Sympathy Card

This card is based on MojoMonday's sketch for challenge #124:
I wanted to do some embossing, so I used my Cuttlebug to emboss some heavy duty foil using the Textile folder.  Next, I embossed a piece of white cardstock using the same folder and matted it with black.  I cut a piece of patterned paper (Target) and matted it in black also.  I arranged my pieces on the front of a black card base.

I used a silver satin ribbon (Hobby Lobby) to tie a bow, and then layered two white flowers (Hobby Lobby) and a pre-made flower embellishment (Sandylion) on the top of the bow.

To finish, I stamped the dove from the "Beloved" CTMH stamp set in Grey Wool, cut it out and inked the edges in Grey Flannel.

Have a creative day!  :)

Christmas Card: MojoMonday and SPCC Challenges

Here is a Christmas Card I made today for two different challenges:
SPCC's color combo this week is the following:
And here is MojoMonday's sketch this week:
When I saw the color combination over at SPCC, I immediately thought of some Christmas Tree Paper I've had since last year and hadn't used yet.  And I've been wanting to make a card with ornaments (Joys of the Season cartridge), so this sketch was perfect for the project!
.
Because the coordinating green on the back of the tree print paper has sort of a "vintage-grunge" look, I inked everything to give it an "older" feel.  I used the coordinating green to mat the card base.
.
I used JOTS to cut the ornaments and layer...the olive green snowflake layer on the smaller ornament is attached it with a rhinestone brad and the inner portion is covered with a thin layer of glitter glue.  Then I cut a clear transparency with circular Christmas sentiments using my circle cutter to add over the border of the olive green layer on the snowflake layer (inked of course) and adhered with Tombo Aqua glue.
.
I cut the trees from the tree patterned paper, inked the edges and layered them on the larger ornament.  I hand cut the snow, inked it and added glitter glue.  I cut the small star with JOTS as well, inked it and added glitter glue.
.
I tied brown ribbons to both ornaments and layered them over two patterned paper strips (same paper as trees).  To finish off, I added three "snoball" embellishments...I even inked those!!!  :)

TFL!!!

Craft: Baby Boy Card (Mojo Monday: Mojo Turns 100 Sketch 5)

I've got my "Mojo" back!!! (Thanks to the Mojo Monday Sketch Blog!) They came out with this nifty little sketch last week:
This was perfect for a card for one of the CFO's co-workers whose wife had a baby today...and this is my take on the sketch:
I used patterned (baby print) and flocked (polka dot) sea green papers (from a discounted paper pack at Michael's) for the circles and background. I tied a ribbon around the base and then attached it to a white cardstock card base. I used the Accent Essentials Cricut cartridge to cut the scallop frame (sea green) and shadow (white) out of plain cardstock. Then I used a flocked iron-on sentiment ("Oh Baby") on the frame and attached the frame with adhesive foam. I finished the frame off with a little heart clip. I made this with a boy in mind, but honestly the color is really a greenish turquoise so it could probably be used for either... TFL!!! :)

Craft: Purple Thanks Card (MojoMonday Mojo Turns 100 Day 2 Sketch)

Just to let you know how addicted to these sketch and challenge blogs I am, I went ahead and made this card even though I feel like a truck ran over me! Could it be the flu??? God I hope not. But it sure does feel like it... But even sick people need a creative escape, right??? :)

This card is based on a sketch from the MojoMonday blog. They turned "100" and had a new sketch each day this week. This sketch was from day 2. This card was made with some purple patterened paper I've had forever. I decided to use it up along with some purple flowers for this sketch.

No fancy techniques this time...give me a break...I'm sick, remember????? : () --That's me coughing...hah!
