Paper Orchid

I found a tutorial by a really crafty lady named Tarah Faulkner on YouTube on how to make a paper orchid.  She cut the petals for each flower by hand and used cardstock to wrap  the stems.  Since I'm "busy" (read: "lazy") I decided to use my beloved Cricut to help me make one of my own!

For this project, I used the following Cricut cartridges and sizes for my flowers:
1.  Accent Essentials: Accent33 (+shift) at 4" for narrow petals
2.  Storybook: "B" (+shift, +Accent/Blackout) at 2" for wide petals
3.  Walk In My Garden: Leaf1 (+Blackout) at 1 1/4" for ruffled petal

Using the Cricut took only a fraction of the time it would have taken to cut these petals by hand.  Additionally, I did not attach each petal to a piece of floral wire, as was shown in the tutorial for this project. I simply curled each petal with my stylus and then hot glued them to the center piece (which is attached to floral wire).  And instead of using dampened cardstock strips to wrap the stems, I used floral tape!  This also cut my assembly time tremendously!

Hope you enjoy this project!  Have a creative day!!!  :)

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #3: Bling It On!

The Fantabulous Cricut Challenge this week is called "Bling It"!  How fun!!!

I made a card using the Storybook cartridge to cut the layered scalloped circles and the Home Accents cartridge to cut the butterfly (shadow feature).  The lace borders are made with the Martha Stewart lace border punch.  The sentiment (stamp) and the rhinestones are Close To My Heart.  Simple card, but it's really jazzed up with the rhinestones, don't you think?

Now it's your turn!!!  Head over to FCCB and link up your own "blinged" project...I can't wait to see what you come up with!  And don't forget to check out the other fabulous projects by the super-duper Design Team while you're there...

Have a creative day!

3-D Lotus Flower Pop-Up Card (Boom-Di-Ada)

I found a tutorial along with a template by "tekuila" to make this AWESOME pop-up lotus flower card and I just couldn't resist.  Now I would obviously prefer to use my Cricut and either Design Studio or Sure Cuts A Lot to do this, as it would save a LOT of time.  So if anyone out there knows how to go about doing this, PLEASE let me know!!!

For this one, I used CTMH's Boom-Di-Ada papers, focusing on the Hollyhock and Olive color combo.  I'm loving this project!

Thanks for looking!!!  :)

Just Buggin Challenge #19: "Treasure Life" Card

This week's challenge (#19) over at Just Buggin is called Stamping Fun: stamp on our project (and of course use our Cricut!).
For this card, I used the Home Accents cartridge to cut the brown decorative frame from Chocolate cardstock (CTMH) and George to cut the circles from Felicity patterned papers (CTMH) and Chocolate cardstock.  For the stamping, I used the new "A Tweet" My Acrylix stamp set, which will be introduced in the new CTMH Idea Book, due out Jan. 1.  I used the birdie, branch and sentiment from this set.

I cut out the birdie, inked the edges and adhered him to the square with foam dots for dimension.  I accented the stamped tree branch with mini Chocolate flowers and mini brads (craft supply).  I also added a mini brad for the birdie's eye.  I matted the design with Twilight cardstock and added a Desert Sand cardstock strip, both inked on the edges.  Before adhering the frame with birdie and sentiment, I tied some thin brown and tan ribbon (craft supply) around the front of the card and tied a bow.  Then I attached the frame with adhesive dots for extra dimension.

CTMH supply list:
Colonial White cardstock (card base)
Twilight cardstock (card mat)
Desert Sand cardstock (strip)
Felicity Patterned Papers (circles)
Chocolate cardstock (circles, decorative frame)
A Tweet My Acrylix Stamp Set
Exclusive Inks: Twilight, Chocolate, Desert Sand
Chocolate Mini Blooms
Other:  mini brads, narrow ribbon (craft supply)

Quick Project: Crochet Flower Butterfuly Mini Card

This is just a quick little 3x3 mini card I made up yesterday.  I saw a card with a crochet butterfly and I decided I could make a butterfly out of one of my CTMH crochet flowers!  I folded the top two petals behind and adhered them down with glue dots.  Then to make the butterfly body I added a photo corner/brad and tied a ribbon to the brad for antennae.  I matted it with a pink die cut circle (Storybook cartridge) and lace cardstock and added a sheer pink polka-dot ribbon.

Thanks for looking!  :)

Toilet Paper Roll Mini Album (CTMH Caboodle Collection)

This is another mini album made out of toilet paper rolls.  I just love these!  When people ask me what I do to save the environment, I say I recycle and make toilet paper roll albums.  HAHAHAHA!
This one is made with the new CTMH Caboodle collection which is super-fun and "Spring-y".  I'll be teaching a class on this one later this month.
I used my Cricut to cut the tags (inserted inside the flattened rolls) from TBBM which allows for extra photos/journaling/storage.  I also used WIMG to cut the flowers.
I stamped two journaling blocks (CTMH My Acrylix "Frame Of Mind"), matted them with coordinating cardstock and cut them out, then punched holes in them and added them between the pages of the album.
Thanks for looking!  :)
