Fatnabulous Cricut Challenge #12: For Baby

This week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut is to make a project for baby...a shower gift, card, album, etc.  I love to make baby projects...one of my most favorite gifts to make using my Cricut.

I do have a confession to make:  I'm not home right now and since I forgot to upload a photo of my "baby" project before I left town, I have to show you one of my projects from a while back.  SORRY!!!  :)

This is a photo of half of the shower invitation I made for my sister's baby shower...the side that's cut off just has the shower information printed from my computer.  Hard to believe my niece had her first birthday this weekend...oh, how time flies!

I used New Arrival to make the stork and baby/blanket, and George to cut the small flowers.  The papers are from Michael's.  To add extra detail to the blanket, I covered it in white tulle and cinched it at the top with ribbon.  I also added rhinestones to the flower centers and used pop dots for dimension.  For the baby's face, I layered green cardstock behind the eyes and pink behind the mouth, with some "rosy cheeks" added by applying pink chalk.

I hope you'll head over to FCCB and check out all the design team projects...there is a ton of great inspiration!

Thanks for looking and have a creative day!  :)

Dimensional Paper Flowers

I made some paper flowers a few days ago for a wall hanging using instructions provided by Marta Gladden, but I decided to come up with some new varieties, for a special project that is currently in the works.  I didn't ink these or emboss them, as there are a LOT of them and I think that kind of detail would get lost with the project I'm using these for.  :)  If you want to see my project, check back in a day or two...I'll be posting photos.  :)

As always, I used my Cricut for these little guys:

Pink Rose (New Arrival)
Yellow Spider Mum (Accent Essentials):
White Spider Mum (Accent Essentials):
Red Star Flower (Stretch Your Imagination):
Coral Hibiscus (Storybook, Home Accents):
Yellow Daisy (Walk In My Garden, Stretch Your Imagination):
(didn't notice the hot glue string on this one until I photographed it...oops!)

The leaves are cut with Storybook.  These aren't hard at all, they just take a little patience.  Okay, a HUGE, TON, GOB of patience!  :)  But I think they're worth it.  Can't wait to finish my project...be sure to check back!

Thanks for looking and have a creative day!  :)

Baby Shower: Diaper Cake and Clotheline

I forgot I had these photos of the diaper cake and clothesline I made for my little sister's baby shower this past Spring!
I made the diaper cake using the pink & brown color scheme of the shower.  It's made with rolled up diapers, arranged in three varying sized circles, secured with alternating layers of pink and brown ribbon tied in bows.  I used paper shreds to cover the tops of the layers and then stuck Gerber Daisies (her favorite) in the top.  Then I just added some little goodies around the cake for the baby.  :)
For the clothesline clips, I used my New Arrival cartridge and cut the onesie and bootie several times from some pink & brown coordinating papers and tied ribbons for extra detail.  I hot glued them to clothespins and hung up some little outfits for the baby with them.

My cutie-patootie neice is now 6 1/2 months old...oh how time flies!!!  :)

Thanks for looking!

Baby Mini Acrylic Brag Book

Here is a mini acrylic "brag book" I made for a friend that just had a baby girl...I covered each page with patterned paper, leaving a small border on the edges. I punched holes in the sides and used rings to bind it. I tied coordinating ribbons on the rings. I used the Zooballoo cartridge for the title and the New Arrival cartridge for the accents (safety pins, hearts). The scallop accent on cover is made with the Accent Essentials cartridge. I inked the edges of each page and embellishment. Small flower and animal embellisments on the inside were punched from the patterned paper. Thanks for looking!!! ;)

Craft: Baby Shower Invitation

My sister had a baby shower in February and I made these invitations...this is the lelf half of the invitation (the right half is just the printing from the computer)...

I used my Cricut for the embellishments: New Arrival cartridge for the stork and baby, George for the flowers. I added rhinestones to the flower centers, wrapped tulle around the baby and tied with a ribbon. Everything is attached with foam adhesive squares for dimension.

P.S. It was a girl!!! :)

Craft: Baby Shower Thank You Card

One of the best purchases I've made (okay maybe it was purchased by the Household CFO, but who's keeping track?) is my Cricut Expression die cut machine. LOVE it!!! I have purchased more cartridges than I should probably admit, but I'm able to cut almost anything you can think of with the push of a button. I used the New Arrival cartridge to make the pea pod die cut for this card. I made a set of 50 of these for my little sister after her baby shower. She had a little girl, but it could easily be adapted for a boy as well. Enjoy!
